This book gave me nightmare. I mean, yes, literally. I read this book couple days in a row late at night before bed and right at the night I finished it, I had nightmare. A really creepy one. I woke up several times during the night but the dream kept continue until morning. The story is not that creepy by the way, maybe it was just my brain overdosed by supernatural thingy. Soul Screamers Vol I contains of My Soul to Lose, My Soul to Take and My Soul to Save.

My Soul to Lose - A prequel of Soul Screamers series. Kaylee, the main character, sees the shadow around a child who will die really soon and a really terrified scream bursts out uncontrol. Her uncle and aunt send her to a mental hospital, where she meets a girl who can take out her scream.

My Soul to Take - Some girls are die in strange way. They're just dead without any signs of sickness or whatsoever. One second they're buying popcorn or dancing, one second later they're just drop to the floor dead. Kaylee finds out that this girls are not supposed to die. With her boyfriend Nash and his undead brother Tod, she tries to find out the reason behind the girls' death. Later she finds out that their soul were the exchange of a human wish to the demon. Kaylee tries whatever it takes to save the next girls that is about to die before their time.

My Soul to Save - Kaylee doesn't scream when a singer dies. She soon learns that a human can live without his soul, but live by demon's breathe. Humans who died without his soul will be tortured eternally after life. Kaylee, Nash and Tod try to save a singer's life, who was Tod's ex girlfriend, and her sister. They face the demon who has the souls and try to make a deal to exchange the soul back.

I interested in this series since the first time I read the title. Soul Screamers, sounds really cool in my ear and the cover is beautiful! For me the characters are so-so, nothing special. What I don’t like, in fact it bothered me enough, is Kaylee is always be the smartest one. Yes, Kaylee is the main character, but it doesn’t mean she’s the one who always figured out everything and have the awesome ideas that lead them to a success, right? There are many other like Nash or Tod or even Emma maybe, but why always Kaylee? When I read that Kaylee figured out things, I was like “Ok, Kaylee again” “Here we go, Kaylee” “Yeah, of course it’s Kaylee” and that bored me.

I hardly put the book down for the first two titles. My adrenalin pumped when I read My Soul to Lose and My Soul to Take. I never read a book about Banshee so it was new to me. I felt excited to read it at first but when I reach My Soul to Save, I found myself felt a little bit boring. I knew where the story went. The plot was so easy to guess. I think this book need more surprising and intense events. The good thing at the end of each stories, they were not only happy endings. The main characters did what they had to do to save someone, but there were other people who had to make sacrifices or couldn’t be saved. It felt more real for me than a happily ever after.

The English is easy to understand. There are no difficult vocabularies. For a non-English native like me, this book can be considerate as an easy reading. Will I purchase the next book? Yes, the cover is too pretty to be missed. I had pre ordered it actually. Will I read it? Yes, but I don’t know when. There other books that I’d like to read first. I’m not that curious to know the continuance of this series.

My rating : 3/5
